After depart at 9:00 AM from Morelia (departs from San Miguel Allende, Patzcuaro or Mexico city available), the scenic drive takes us trough beans, chickpeas, corn & winter wheat valleys; by the lakeshore of the 2nd largest lake in Mexico (Cuitzeo), which is a winter paradise for ducks and birds from North America; and finally up to the pine tree mountains to reach 3000 meters above sea level. The further we hike in the woods, the more monarchs we can see, flying between trees and, sometimes around people!
